Catch up on some of the biggest news from Van Dyk in 2022 Startups: Murphy Road Recycling The largest and most advanced single stream system on the East Coast will have their grand opening in the coming weeks. Murphy Road’s “All American MRF” seeks to revolutionize recycling for the state of Connecticut. Startups: Rockland Green As an historic leader in NYS waste management since 1997, Rockland Green (the designated NYS Waste Management Unit formerly known as the Rockland County Solid Waste Management Authority) has now completely over-hauled and upgraded its entire dual stream MRF with the very latest cutting-edge equipment and technologies including an optical sorting system along with enhancements to the fiber recovery line, fully automated container line, and glass recovery system. Startups: WM – the Westside MRF WM’s newest MRF in their hometown headquarters of Houston, TX delivers amazing results producing clean paper and maximum recovery of all recyclables using fewer human sorters and a fully automated container line. Current Installations: Atlantic Coast Fibers Installation has begun in Passaic, NJ on this dual stream system with a highly automated container line. The paper line will alternate shifts of mixed paper and single stream and include screens and opticals for cleaning up fiber and targeting cardboard. Current Installations: Westrock WestRock’s various fiber line upgrades in Portland, Louisville, and Chattanooga will clean up paper to reduce contamination and reach less than 2% prohibitives. Upcoming Installations: FCC Environmental Services Van Dyk is proud to continue their partnership with FCC Environmental Services. FCC’s newest project will be a state-of-the-art MSW + C&D MRF in Placer County, California. Upcoming Installations: Günther Splitter Screen The first SPLITTER screen will go into a 35tph single stream system in Illinois to do initial sizing at presort. The system will also feature a full container line with 11 optical units from Pellenc ST. Upcoming Installations: Freepoint Eco-Systems Freepoint Eco-Systems is partnering with Van Dyk to develop a large mixed plastics pre-processing plant in Hebron, Ohio that will use elliptical separation and positive sorting to recover plastics from MRF residue. Upcoming Installations: All American Recycling An upgrade of this residential/commercial MRF in Jersey City, New Jersey, will include Lubo nonwrapping 440 Screens, several of the newest generation TOMRA Autosort Five optical sorters, a Bakker inline overbelt magnet and an eddy current separator. High-Volume Fiber Baling Van Dyk is proud to supply Bollegraaf balers to commercial recyclers who need the highest capacity and highest speed available on the market. 2022 customers include Pioneer Paper Stock, Quincy Recycle, Taylor Recycling, Reliable Paper, TFC Recycling, Colgate Paper Stock Co, and Interstate Waste Services. Switching To Bollegraaf Processors switch to Bollegraaf balers when they need a fast, reliable baler that can handle all fiber and containers. The Bollegraaf factory has been busy building balers for customers such as Balcones in Austin, TX, the Lee County MRF in Fort Myers, FL, WM in Nashville, TN, and Athens Clarke County MRF in Athens, GA. Plastics Projects Van Dyk has closed deals with Revolution Plastics and others to supply the latest optical technology from TOMRA and Pellenc ST. One project will produce a film processing system using shredders, magnets, elliptical separation and optical sorting to produce clean LDPE film pack. E-Scrap Projects Van Dyk is currently supplying and installing AUTOSORT FINES units for the e-scrap processor Colt Recycling, among others. AUTOSORT FINES uses four technologies (near infrared, camera, hi-res metal sensors, and artificial intelligence) to improve all potential end products in e-scrap operations. MRF of the Year GFL’s Toronto location wins the NWRA award for Recycling Facility of the Year for continually investing in the most advanced MRF technology available. Five out of the last six titles for this award have gone to systems installed and designed by Van Dyk. New Additions: Florian van Dijk President Pieter van Dijk’s son Florian is the newest member of the van Dijk family to join the company. Florian follows his brother Maarten, who has been Operations Manager since 2017, in sustaining the company’s strong future. New Additions: Jeff Fountain Jeff Fountain comes to work for Van Dyk after 14 successful years with Pellenc ST. Jeff brings with him extensive knowledge on how to best implement optical technology in various sorting environments. New Additions: Growing Service Team Van Dyk has hired seven new service technicians to their installation and after-sales support team to expand the company’s commitment to customer support. Technicians are stationed all over North America to respond to customer issues with speed and superior knowledge.
