VAN DYK Completes Installation of a Glass Cleaning System at City Carting’s Stamford, CT Facility

February 2018 – Van Dyk Recycling Solutions recently installed a glass cleanup system at City Carting’s single stream facility in Stamford, CT to help recover and recycle additional material from within the existing waste stream. The system is designed to produce a glass product that is more marketable, thereby reducing the total cost of this commodity that typically has a lower value. The system comes from Van Dyk Recycling Solutions and includes a double-deck screen and a zig zag separator that screen out the glass and then separate lights and heavies. The zig zag separator is flexible and can bring glass to a level of over 95% purity.

“This machine was a considerable investment for us, but it looks like it will be well worth it,” says Michael Ferro, City’s General Manager. With today’s uncertainty in the fiber markets, City knew it had to look elsewhere in their process to increase recovery and add value to negative revenue streams. City worked with Van Dyk on the right solution for their operation and came up with what’s installed today.

The installation was performed while the system was kept running and was complete within two weeks. For more information about this system, contact Van Dyk at 203-967-1100 or [email protected].
